Angola is a small country of 25 million people, a rather poor and dangerous place to live. Climate change is causing many deadly storms to hit the undefended country. Deadly storms along with heavy rain and flooding is killing off all diversity in the nation. However Angola dedicates .1% of their territory to protect the diversity of wildlife.
Impact of climate change in Angola is very evident. scientists have found that twenty six types of birds are nearly extinct, 51 different fish species have nearly died out. 17 plants and over 33 plants are all nearly extinct. and this is despite the 5 marine wildlife protection areas and 7 terrestrial protection area. storms, acidification of the ocean and rain, and flooding are all getting stronger and more frequent almost daily. while the UNFCC has sent out laws like the KYOTO protocol inn 2007 there are still many massive impacts on the climate coming from Angola, like CO2 levels rising because of crude oil being burned. which is a large income for Angola which means they cant stop the burning of crude oil without impacting their economy. there is a large amount of deforestation in the area. The people of Angola definitely know that climate change is a happening and they do know of its effects and that it is a serious problem however very few think that it is a problem to them as individuals and they really don't care about the effects to them personally. they really just don't care. As i have said before the Angolans are using crude oil however they are truly using it exponentially every year as they grow becoming a first world country. deforestation must cease immediately if CO2 emissions are to have any chance of lessening. The KYTO protocol was a good start but they still need to improve and protect there forests and use less fossil fuels.
